Ensure fuel tanks are safe and do your part for road safety

If you have saved the date to attend Henty in September, then mark another date in your calender to check your fuel tank.

Trusted local fuel provider Lowes bp is asking growers to call in to their site to check out the field days specials from Castrol, Mobile and Prolube then talk tank safety with the team.

“Older farm fuel tanks might have done the job for decades, but they may end up costing you n the end. With mounting farming costs, you don’t want to be losing money with older tanks which are not as efficient as modern tanks and monitoring equipment for safety and preventing fuel evaporation or reducing fuel theft,” Lowes Health, Safety and Environment general manager Bernie Morris said. 

Lowes bp are providing free tools and assistance to conduct on farm fuel tank safety checks to proactively address these risks.

Mr Morris said it was not unusual to see tanks well over 20 years old in some areas and although they may seem to be in a good condition, time and exposure to elements take their toll.

“Our Lowes team can assist with on-the-spot advice or scheduling a site visit. You can also take hoe our tank safety checklist. 

“Long days at events can leave you exhausted and we don’t want you heading home that way. Along with fuel information and great field day specials, the Lowes site is where you can enter the Henty gate prize competition with $500 gift cards to win every day.
